Personalized Guidance for Every Stage of Life
Life has a way of shaping us through both its joys and its challenges. I believe our experiences—especially the difficult ones—often become the foundation for the work we’re meant to do.
I grew up in Southern California and was raised by my mom after my parents divorced when I was young. She set the tone for resilience, independence, and the importance of showing up for family—lessons that continue to guide me today. I went on to earn a degree in music and, to this day, still love playing the oboe and English horn. Music taught me discipline, creativity, and the power of listening—skills that show up in my work with clients every day.
About Kimberly Surber, CFP® CDFA®
Like many people, my path into financial planning came during a time of transition. As I began to look beyond the “starving musician” phase of life, I was introduced to the world of financial advising and immediately felt drawn to the idea of helping others through money. I began my career in financial services in 1998, became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in 2001, and have spent more than two decades guiding individuals and families through meaningful financial decisions.
Along the way, life continued to evolve. I married, became a mother in 2003, lived in several parts of the country, and eventually experienced divorce. That period of my life was emotionally challenging and, at times, overwhelming. I understand what it feels like to make important decisions while navigating uncertainty and change. Those experiences deepened my empathy and strengthened my belief that no one should feel rushed, judged, or alone when it comes to their finances.
What those moments also gave me was perspective—and determination. I worked hard to create stability, provide for my daughter, and build a life grounded in purpose and possibility. In 2021, my daughter and I moved to Colorado, where I’m proud to call home and support her as she attends college at Colorado State University. I’m deeply grateful for the journey that brought me here.
